When you really begin thinking about the love of God, you can become quickly overcome by the depth of God’s love. We toss the word love around like we use the word great. I love the 49ers! I love that show! I love zucchini casserole! Ok, not the best examples, but you get the idea.

The Bible tells us that God loved us first. The holy, righteous, just God of the universe loved us—wretched, wicked, and unworthy sinners. I’m mean He knew all our secrets, even those deep dark ones that we have never told anyone. He knows us inside and out.

If He knew everything about us, our failures, faults, etc., why would He give His one-and-only Son, Jesus Christ. Because He loved us. It doesn’t make sense as to why, but it does draw us to praise and thank Him. Here’s a few verses on that thought…

Romans 5:12 KJV – Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 12:1-2 KJV – I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
